Work Category: Illustration/Print

This project was created for a design class, where the goal was to design a vintage travel poster inspired by a place we enjoy or visit frequently. I chose Dutch Bros, as it is a location I visit regularly and felt personally connected to.
To begin the process, I researched vintage travel posters to better understand their composition, color palettes, and overall visual style. After gathering inspiration, I created several thumbnail sketches to explore different concepts before selecting one direction to develop further in Adobe Illustrator.
As I worked on the poster, I used a reference image to make the hands feel more natural and expressive, helping to bring a sense of life to the design. I also carefully matched the brand’s colors to maintain consistency and recognizability. To further reinforce the connection to the brand, I incorporated one of their well-known slogans into the final composition.
Overall, this project helped me better understand how stylistic choices, such as color, composition, and reference usage, can influence the mood and effectiveness of a design. It reflects my ability to combine research, personal inspiration, and technical skills to create a cohesive and engaging final piece while continuing to grow as a designer.
These are a few snapshots from how my thumbnails became my final poster.
